The largemouth bass bite has been fair with some flurries of good topwater action early and late in the day. Most of the fish are two to four pounds and showing in 25 to 35 feet of water on drop-shot plastics in purple, brown, or pink. Senkos and Creature Baits are also good bets. The striper bite has been very tough this past week with only a few fish showing on bluegill-like swimbaits on top or trolled flies. Catfish are fair to good but getting little fishing pressure. Cut baits off the mail lake points and mouths of the bays and coves have been the best bet. Most are quality fish from four to six pounds with some bigger. The bluegill and redear action is fair to good with the bite best on smaller fish on crickets, wax worms, meal worms, red worms, and nightcrawlers. A few one-pound class fish. Boats inspected and tagged “quagga free” at Diamond Valley are also allowed on Perris and Silverwood.
